What Does This Service Actually Do?

If your WordPress site takes more than about three seconds to load, most visitors leave before they ever see it — and Google quietly ranks you below faster competitors. The frustrating part: it’s almost never one big problem. It’s usually four or five small ones stacked on top of each other, and "speed plugins" only paper over them.

I’m a senior developer with 10+ years of WordPress work and 8+ years serving US businesses. I fix the actual causes — properly, by hand, with proof. This site you’re reading scores 90+ on Google PageSpeed; I apply the same standards to yours.

What Usually Gets Fixed

  • Huge images compressed and converted to modern formats — often the single biggest win
  • Plugin cleanup: removing, replacing, or repairing the ones dragging everything down
  • Caching set up correctly, so repeat visits load almost instantly
  • Code that blocks the page from showing (render-blocking CSS and JavaScript) deferred or removed
  • Database cleanup: years of leftover revisions, transients, and orphaned tables
  • Hosting settings tuned — or an honest recommendation if your hosting is the real problem
  • Core Web Vitals (Google’s official speed measurements) brought into the green

Who This Is For

Small business owners, store owners, and anyone whose WordPress site got slower over the years and doesn’t know why. You don’t need to understand any of the technical terms above — that’s my job. You send me your website address, I send you back what’s wrong and one price to fix all of it. If you’d rather have your site looked after every month so this never happens again, see my dedicated developer plans — or if you need broader search-ranking work, my SEO & performance service.

What You Get

A Noticeably Faster Site

Most sites I work on go from 4-10 second load times to under 2 seconds. Your visitors stop leaving before the page finishes loading.

Before & After Proof

You get screenshots of your Google PageSpeed scores before and after the work. You see exactly what you paid for — no vague promises.

Nothing Breaks

I take a full backup before touching anything, and I test every page after each change. Your site keeps working exactly as it did — just faster.

Flat Rate, Quoted Upfront

After a free speed check of your site, you get one fixed price for the whole job. No hourly billing, no surprises, no upsells.

Better Google Rankings

Speed is a Google ranking factor. A faster site ranks higher, and faster pages convert more visitors into customers and leads.

Plain-English Communication

I explain what was slow and what I fixed in language you don't need to be technical to understand. Questions answered same-day during US business hours.

Questions Site Owners Ask

The most common causes are oversized images uploaded straight from a phone or camera, too many plugins (or a few badly coded ones), cheap shared hosting, no caching, and heavy themes loaded with features you never use. Most slow WordPress sites have three or four of these problems at once, which is why installing a single "speed plugin" rarely fixes anything. During the free speed check I identify exactly which of these apply to your site, and the quote covers fixing all of them — not just the easy ones. After 8+ years working with WordPress, I can usually spot the main culprit within the first ten minutes.

I quote one flat price after the free speed check, based on the size of your site and how many issues it has — there's no hourly billing and no surprises. A typical small business site is a few hundred dollars for the complete job, including the backup, all fixes, testing, and the before/after report. Larger sites or WooCommerce stores cost more because there's more to test. Compare that to what a slow site costs you: research shows most visitors leave if a page takes more than three seconds to load, and Google ranks slow sites lower. The fix usually pays for itself.

No — and this is the part most site owners worry about, understandably. Before I change anything, I take a complete backup of your files and database, so the site can be restored to exactly how it was in minutes if ever needed. I make changes one at a time and test after each one, checking your pages on both desktop and mobile. Your content, design, forms, and store all keep working exactly as they did — the only difference visitors notice is that everything loads faster. In 100+ projects I've never left a client's site broken.

Most sites are done within 3 to 5 business days from when work starts. The free speed check itself takes a day. Simple sites with a handful of pages can be finished in a day or two; larger sites, WooCommerce stores, or sites with years of accumulated plugins take closer to a week because every page and checkout step needs testing. I work US Eastern hours, so you'll get updates during your business day, and your site stays online the whole time — there's no downtime while the work happens.

You only need to give me access — a WordPress admin login and, ideally, hosting access. I handle everything else. Usually you can keep your current hosting: most speed problems are in the site itself, not the server. If your hosting genuinely is the bottleneck (it happens with the cheapest shared plans), I'll tell you honestly, recommend a specific better option in plain English, and handle the move for you if you want. I never recommend hosting changes to pad the job — only when the data shows the server is the problem.

The fixes themselves are permanent, and your before/after report includes simple guidelines to keep the site fast — mainly how to add images correctly and what to check before installing new plugins. WordPress does need ongoing attention though: plugin updates, security patches, and backups. If you'd rather not think about any of that, I offer a monthly care plan where I keep your site updated, backed up, secure, and fast — and handle small changes for you. Many speed-fix clients move onto a care plan so they never have to worry about the site again.
